Welcome to Write to Learn! This is a website for secondary teachers, by a secondary teacher, with the intent to help all subject teachers include writing in their classrooms.

Start by watching the video in the Featured Post section. This will give you background on Writing Across the Curriculum as well as some simple strategies on how to include writing in your class as a means of Writing to Learn.

Next you can check out the four-part post in Resources on conducting Research Writing Across the Curriculum. As you know, it is important that students conduct research in all subject areas and these resources offer a step by step plan to use so that students can learn how to become informed citizens in participatory culture.

And The Limits of Our Language Podcast is a series of interviews with subject teachers outside of the ELA classroom. Each teacher shares how they use writing in their classes and what ways they think writing is useful in their subjects.

The About Me section tells you a bit more about my background and credentials. Feel free to connect with me there!

"This book identifies the key rhetorical moves in academic writing. It shows students how to frame their arguments as a response to what others have said and provides templates to help them start making the moves. The fourth edition features many NEW examples from academic writing, a NEW chapter on Entering Online Discussions, and a thoroughly updated chapter on Writing in the Social Sciences. Finally, two NEW readings provide current examples of the rhetorical moves in action" (Amazon.com)
