Literary Analysis

Power of Words

Great Gatsby Lit Review

"Often read as a love story, The Great Gatsby subtly highlights the issues of social class, race, and sexuality during a new era in American history through the lens of Deconstruction, Marxism, Psychoanalytical theory, Gender and Critical Race Theories, Structuralism, and New Historicism."

Authenticity in Travel Writing

"If a writer has the audacity to write about a foreign culture it is their responsibility to resist narrating from a position of privilege (colonial discourse), and depict the culture respectfully, portraying its nuances with authenticity."

Teaching Words

Learn Through Writing

"The problem is that people in subject areas outside of literature and composition don’t see writing as a necessary component of their subject, when literacy is a necessary component in every subject."

In Search of the Garden

"Though some of the female characters that she interacts with are the most powerful figures in Wonderland, ultimately Alice rejects societal expectations of femininity in pursuit of freedom."

From Words to Action

"Composition has become the most thorough and permanent form of knowledge making and knowledge production; it is the foundation of much knowledge that can then turn words into action."

"Addressing and Assessing

The Standards"

"Standards-based grading is a controversial topic in education, largely because its implementation is not always agreed upon."
